How to arrive, and how to move between the historic center, the beaches, and the islands once you're here.
Getting to Paraty. Most guests fly into Rio de Janeiro (GIG). From there, the BR-101 hugs the coast south for 4–4.5 hours by car — the route itself is one of the great drives in Brazil. Costa Verde buses run hourly from Novo Rio Rodoviária; private transfers can be arranged through Bianca for a flatter, faster trip.
From São Paulo, the drive is about 5 hours via the Rodovia Rio–Santos; the Angra dos Reis / Itacuruçá detour is worth it for the views.
Moving around Paraty. The historic center is entirely pedestrian (the cobblestone is not car-friendly, and that's on purpose). Leave your car at the chalet or at the edge of the old town — walking distance is about 10 minutes to the main piers.
Beaches & day-trips. For beaches like Trindade, Praia do Sono, or the Caminho do Ouro waterfalls, you'll want a car or a taxi. Uber works, but service can be patchy once you leave the town center.
Islands. The bay has 65 islands and dozens of accessible beaches. The easiest way to see them is a schooner (saveiro) day-tour departing from the main pier — your host can arrange tickets.
From Cantinho do Marinheiro specifically: you're a short drive from the historic center and the main pier. The chalets sit up the hill, which gives you the view and the quiet — a rental car makes the stay easiest, but taxis and our own transfer support are always an option.
